Here I am pictured with my artist mother, Nettie Scott. She was my mentor and a major inspirational force behind my art. She will always be missed, but some of her talent will live on in the very best of my work. Over the years, and under my former name (RBScott) my work has been featured in most of the major wildlife art magazines. Although not an easy decision, following my mothers death, I chose to adopt her maiden name (Cederstrand) as my artist name. I spoke with her towards the end and she was supportive of my decision. I believe she would be pleased.
At left is a pic of Grandfather Cederstrand, Master Architect and fine artist in his own right. His figure work was as skillfully rendered as any artist I've seen. The photo at right is of Jessie M. Leith, his art teacher. Her work has been on display in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I can attest to the fine quality of her watercolor and oil paintings as well.
At left is Terri Isaac and myself in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana, near where Barbara and I were stalked by a grizzly bear, but that's another story. From right is John Seerey-Lester, Robert Cederstrand, and Alan M. Hunt in England where I attended John's workshop. I was awarded the Seerey-Lester Scholarship Award which I used to attend his Master Class in Florida.
